Intro
In an innovative new book, APD Jaime Rose Chambers shares her tips to helping busy parents establish and maintain a healthy and nutritious life with their kids.

Remember when your daily food intake consisted of cornflakes, an apple, a cheese sandwich, maybe a packet of crisps, meat and three veg, and if you were lucky, maybe a bowl of vanilla ice cream?

Nowadays is a different story, when it comes to diet things have changed. Should you give them juice or shouldn’t you? Which bread is the right bread? How are we ever supposed to know what is right and what is wrong and what is the best for our little ones, when everyday there is a magnitude of information being thrown at us. From countless sources we are being told something different – not to mention, the constant and relentless advertising campaigns promoting unhealthy and high in sugar snack foods at every possible opportunity.

Feeding your kids and keeping them happy and healthy can feel like a real nutritional minefield to manoeuvre, and a scary one at that. The simplest thing you can do is stick to the 80/20 rule.

The 80/20 Rule

·       80 per cent of the week = eating good food and undertaking physical activity

·       20 per cent of the week = eating some treat foods and having some relaxation time.
